They sang the song and ‘Oh what a night’ it was. We were delighted to see so many people turn out, despite the miserable weather, to mark the official countdown to Christmas, Trinity Square style!
Free festive family fun was on the agenda and the event didn’t disappoint with fantastic entertainment from North East pop songstress Channy, girl group Melody 5, The Voice Kids UK contestant Jessie Dale, tribute group The Jersey Dreamboats, all female Samba drumming band The Bangshees and Gateshead-based Envisage and the All Stars with their Christmas variety show.
Santa and his elves welcomed children into the Grotto to find out if they had been naughty or nice and the Unicorn Stilt Walkers wowed the crowd. Heart North East Breakfast presenters Justin and Kelly were back as the evening’s hosts and brought with them a paparazzo wall with went down well with the crowd.
Trinity Square celebrated its 5th Anniversary earlier this year and every year since it opened in 2013 it has held a Christmas Light Switch On event. Last night was the biggest and best event that has been staged and was a fitting tribute to mark the Square’s 5th Anniversary.
We want to say a huge thank you to all of our retail colleagues who donated and participated last night, making it such a special night including Tesco, Boots, Nando’s, Vue, Greggs, Cooplands, Subway, Burger King and Costa
Together with the raffle, tombola and sales of mulled wine we raised £460 for Tiny Lives, our nominated charity.
Thank you to everyone who took part and we hope we started your Christmas countdown in style!
