The Deputy Mayor of Gateshead Councillor Dot Burnett has officially opened the new Dawson and Sanderson branch at Trinity Square following its move from Jackson Street earlier this month.
The company, which has sent more than 6 million customers on holiday, has been in Gateshead for more than 35 years, based in sites on Jackson Street and originally Ellison Street. The new store is located next to Newcastle Building Society on Ellison Walk, a prime location between Tesco and the Metro Interchange.
Chris Harrison, Managing Director of Dawson and Sanderson said: “We are very excited about our relocation to Trinity Square where our aim is to create a one-stop holiday store in one of the busiest locations in town.
“Dawson and Sanderson has been undergoing a refurbishment programme, including new stores and our new headquarters in Newcastle. All of the stores offer a fresh look while retaining the traditional approach our customers know and expect.
“Many national travel agents have lost a degree of identity with fairly generic high street stores, but our identity is proudly regional – after all we have sent millions of North East families on holiday over the past 57 years.”
Dawson & Sanderson’s aim is to provide dedicated travel experts in each of its 23 branches, offering a more tailored, personal service for customers. The Gateshead store will include staff specialising in beach holidays, cruises, city breaks, worldwide flights and Tours, plus wedding and honeymoon packages, so everything their clients could wish for.
Dawson & Sanderson is still owned by the same family who set it up 57 years ago and has branches across the North East from Ashington to Doncaster in South Yorkshire.
Mr Harrison added: “As one of the country’s largest independently owned travel agencies, we are not tied to particular brands or holiday providers, so can always offer independent, impartial advice at the best value. Our aim is always to provide holidays beyond expectation.”
