Why the little things matter at Trinity Square

When you think about Trinity Square, you might think about the weekly shop, remember bagging a bargain, grabbing lunch with a friend or catching a film.

But sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Like knowing you’ll find plenty of parking, friendly faces, vibrant events and clean, safe and welcoming facilities whenever you visit.

2026 has been a good year for recognising the people who make this possible. From our public toilets once again being given a Diamond grading in the Loo of the Year Awards (yes, there is an award for that!) to our most recent shortlisting for Community Initiative of the Year at the Sceptre Awards in London for our VE Day 80th Year Celebration with Age Uk Gateshead.

The team behind the scenes

Behind every clean walkway, hanging basket, tidy seating area, colourful event and welcoming public space is a hardworking team who often go unnoticed.

Many members of Trinity Square’s Bettakleen cleaning team have been part of the centre since it opened. They manage our award-winning facilities helping maintain the high standards that visitors have come to expect.

The Community Initiative of the Year Award recognises retail destinations which have made a positive impact on their local community.

The operations and marketing team work with local people and partners to plan and run the events calendar that keeps Trinity Square’s public spaces vibrant and fun. We’re delighted that our VE Day event has been recognised and shortlisted for such a prestigious award.

More than just toilets and colourful nostalgia

These awards aren’t just about spotless washrooms and colourful hats and flags.

They recognise the care, attention and pride that go into creating an enjoyable environment for everyone who visits the centre.

All the details and welcoming atmosphere that contribute to making your visit a pleasant one and keep our community connected.

Our small but dedicated team are passionate about Trinity Square, our tenants and shared success for local people. Cleanliness and community spirit are high on the list of priorities, making sure that everyone feels welcome.
