Trinity Square’s virtual Christmas Light Switch On 2020 has won a national award for the Best Use of Branded Experiences and Events from Just Marketing.
The Christmas Light Switch On gets bigger and better every year, but due to Covid-19, last year’s show was under threat. Not wanting to disappoint the hundreds of locals who turn out each year to mark their official countdown to Christmas, we took the event online instead. Doing that created an opportunity to make an hour-long variety show with retailers from the Square, local performers and entertainers taking part.
The show, filmed in the Square and at Proto film studio in Gateshead, raised thousands of pounds for Tiny Lives, which is Trinity Square’s nominated charity.
Over 3,500 people have watched the show since it went live on YouTube in November 2020.
