Building on the success of last year’s Masala Festival, GemArts is back with an even more ambitious and vibrant programme.
Showcasing artists from the UK, South Asia and beyond, the Masala Festival programme explores partition, migration, globalisation, identity, heritage, tradition and modernity, and marks the 70th anniversary of Independence for both India and Pakistan in this special year.
On Saturday 22nd July Trinity Square Gateshead will be transformed with the sights, sounds and richness of Arts and Culture from the Indian subcontinent. We have live performances, music, dance, literature, exhibitions, talks, films, workshops, food and a range of free fun events for all the family… something for everyone.
